Liberia records ten new Coronavirus cases, World Bank supports Gov’s COVID-19 Food Security…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia has over the last twenty-four hours recorded ten new cases of the coronavirus.

The ten new cases bring the total confirmed coronavirus cases to two-hundred-sixty-five.

According to Liberian Health Authorities, there have also been three new recoveries, bringing the number of people recovered from COVID-19 to one-hundred-thirty-nine.

The report says there has been no new death to the virus in the last twenty-four hours.

Meanwhile, farmers stand to benefit from local and international support to   boost Liberia’s Agriculture Sector during and after COVID-19 pandemic.

It followed World Bank’s approval of ten-point-five million United States Dollar support to the Liberian Government for its COVID-19 Food Security, Nutrition and Livelihood Plan.

The amount will support the construction of irrigation, agriculture infrastructure, rehabilitation of tertiary roads to connect farmers to markets.

It will also go towards merchandised farming, provide grants to farmers, building of small-scale food processor and construction of water houses among others.

According to a release issued over the weekend, the COVID-19 Food Security, Nutrition and Livelihood Plan targets vulnerable low income families and local farmers.
