Senator Coleman Refutes ‘Hand Washing’ Allegations

Monrovia, Liberia – Grand Kru County Senator Dr. Peter S. Coleman has refuted Frontpage Africa news report that he refused to adhere to the hand washing protocol at the Capitol Building.

Senator Coleman said as a Medical Doctor, he is Front liner in the health sector and at no time will he be engaged in any act that undermines health protocols put in place to contain the spread of the Corona Virus.

The newspaper had accused the former Health Minister of walking pass the hand washing station at the Capitol Building when others stopped to wash their hands.

The Senate Committee Chair on Health told State Radio that he is involved with major policy decisions about Government’s fight against the Coronavirus outbreak, noting he will do nothing to undermine the very protocols he helped to put in place.

Earlier during the week, the office of the Senator issued a statement which said “Senator Dr. Peter S. Coleman disembarked his vehicle, walked to the wash station and washed his hands at the entrance of the Capitol Building from the EXECUTIVE Mansion main entrance. At no time will he who helped to institute the protocols opt to flagrantly ignored or violate same. The Frontpage Africa Editorial Staff did not make any effort to get in contact with Dr. Coleman or his office. We must hasten to say that we have always had a very cordial relationship with the FPA Reporter assigned at the Liberian Senate or the Capitol Building in general. Sincerely, we looked forward to the FPA retracting the story and doing the necessary apologies for the wrong done by such article that is embellished with political intent”.

Meanwhile Senator Coleman is calling on all Liberians to adhere strongly to the COVID-19 Protocols and other basic safety measures announced by the Ministry of Health and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL).

He assured his constituents and the people of Liberia that he will continue to avail himself in working with the Ministry of Health, NPHIL and all related partners as the country fights to contain the Coronavirus.
