Liberia observes ECOWAS’ Human Rights Day

MONROVIA, LIBERIA (Jarp Davies Reports) – Liberia will on Thursday join other West African countries to celebrate the 4th edition of the ECOWAS Human Rights Day.

The day will be observed under the theme “The Right to Education for People With Disability, Refugees, Returnees and IDPs.

Ahead of the day, the Commissioner of Human Rights at the Independent National Commission on Human Rights, Adolphus Wade, is calling for respect for people with disability as well as refugees, returnees and IDPs.

Commissioner Wade, also the 2nd Vice President of the Network of West Africa Human Rights Institution, said the day is symbolic for Liberia as it is dedicated to Former Liberian Leader, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

According to Commissioner Wade much has been achieved through the observance of the ECOWAS Human Rights Day as the issue of Human Rights has taken root in the region.
