Liberia Football Association to open book of condolence for fallen former National Team Coach, Dominic Vava George today

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) will today open a book of condolence for former Liberia National Team Coach Dominic Vava George in the conference room of the Antoinette Tubman Stadium at 9:00AM.

Late Coach Vava George, passed on the 13th of December at the John F. Kennedy medical center following a protracted illness, and will be buried on 11 January following funeral rites at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tweh Farm.

Chief patron of sports, President George Weah, is expected to lead an array of government and sport officials at the signing ceremony today.

The LFA and President Mustapha Raji had been catering for Vava and were later buttressed by President Weah-led government when it took the full financial responsibility of his medical bills at the SOS Clinic in Congo Town. President Weah, who had been making unannounced contributions, was concerned about Vava’s deteriorating health condition.

The President of The Liberia Football Association Mustapha Raji extended condolence to the Late Vava George’s family and the entire footballing community.

“It is sad we have lost him. My deepest condolence goes to the family, especially Mimi George [his daughter], who took care of him while he was sick. May God grant him eternal rest,” said Mustapha Raji, as he extends his condolence to the family and the entire sporting community.

Vava’s greatest achievement was being part of a coaching trio (technical director Weah and deputy coach Frank Jericho Nagbe) that guided Liberia to the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Mali and narrowly missed out on a maiden World Cup final in Japan and South Korea.

He coached many clubs, including Gardnersville FC, Monrovia Club Breweries and Mighty Barrolle.
