MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Roots and Returns Executive Producer and Co-Founder, Lotten Yeaney, has announced an economic empowerment initiative targeting over 80 percent of Liberian-owned small businesses through direct financing, mentorship, and accountability measures.
Madam Yeaney said,” The initiative prioritizes micro and small enterprises, shifting away from traditional funding models that disproportionately favor larger businesses over the majority of locally owned enterprises”.
The programme will begin in Montserrado County before expanding nationwide, connecting diaspora supporters with local entrepreneurs through community-based monitoring systems designed to ensure transparency and accountability.
Participating entrepreneurs could initially receive US$2,000, with opportunities to access US$5,000 or more as they demonstrate responsible fund management, business expansion, and measurable progress.
Madam Yeaney said,” Partnerships with local learning centers and community pastors would help verify investments through physical receipts and regular progress checks, ensuring financial support translates into sustainable business growth”.
