Police Arrest over 80 Foreign Nationals in Major Cybercrime Operations

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia National Police (LNP) has arrested more than eighty foreign nationals in a major cybercrime operation.

Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman said most of those arrested are Chinese nationals.

Col. Coleman said:” The arrest followed months of surveillance on suspected criminal networks operating in cyberspace”.

The operations covered three locations in Rehab, SKD and Baptist Seminary Communities.

He said the police seized more than 200 mobile phones and over fifty computers. Other seized items include internet devices, storage equipment, precious minerals, and more than 2,000 U.S. dollars in cash.

The Inspector General said the police also seized more than 1.3 million U.S. Dollars in suspected counterfeit currency.
