MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has disclosed that it will prioritize the establishment of K-9 Units in 2027 to strengthen its drug enforcement operations.
The units will be deployed to strategic locations as the Agency works to address gaps in its operational capacity.
Addressing the Executive Budget Hearing with the Security Sectors, LDEA Director General Daniel Ziankahn identified the K-9 Units as one of the Agency’s three priorities for 2027.
He said:” The Agency will also strengthen its intelligence capabilities to support intervention operations”.
Retired Gen. Ziankahn further identified modern surveillance and information technology equipment as another priority for the Agency next year.
Meanwhile, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency says it has trained one hundred thirteen personnel at the Police Academy in 2026, marking its first personnel training there since 2016.
