MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia is planning to strengthen the fight against narcotics through the purchase of specialized equipment.
Speaking during the Ministry of Information regular press briefing, Deputy Information Minister for Press and Public Affairs Daniel Sando said:” The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency plan includes drones, scanners and drug analyzers”.
Minister Sando said the statement was made by Acting LDEA Director General Retired General Daniel Ziankahn during the ongoing 2027 national budget hearings.
He said the agency also plans to strengthen specialized training for its officers, noting that the goal is to improve narcotics intelligence gathering and monitoring across Liberia.
The LDEA also plans to reactivate its K-9 unit; the trained dogs and their handlers are expected to be deployed at strategic locations, including Roberts International Airport and other key entry points.
