MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Board of Tax Appeals has unveiled a Five-Year Strategic Plan aimed at strengthening the institution and improving tax dispute resolution in Liberia.
The plan focuses on institutional capacity, improved service delivery, operational efficiency, transparency, accountability, and taxpayer engagement.
The Chief Launcher and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), David Vinton, said: “The strategic plan will provide direction for the institution and strengthen its ability to effectively carry out its mandate”.
The LRA Board Chair emphasized the importance of improving the relationship between the Board and taxpayers.
Vinton further called for collective commitment to the implementation of the plan, emphasizing that its success will depend on a holistic approach through inter-agency coordination.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Board of Tax Appeals, Cllr. Benjamin Stewart, described the Strategic Plan as a framework for strengthening the institution’s internal systems and improving the delivery of services to taxpayers.
Cllr. Stewart echoed the need for the Board to develop stronger administrative structures, improve its operational efficiency and ensure that staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills to perform their responsibilities.
The Executive Director also called for collective efforts to ensure the successful implementation of the strategic plan.
He noted that the document is a practical guide to support the Board’s programs and activities rather than remain only a policy document.
Cllr. Benjamin Stewart assured the Board that it will continue working to strengthen its capacity, improve case management and expand taxpayer engagements.
