MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Montserrado County Superintendent, Whroway Bryant, wants the swift implementation of the revenue-sharing framework to give counties greater control over resources generated in the areas.

Superintendent Bryant says increased access to locally generated revenues would accelerate development, strengthen local ownership and enhance citizens’ participation in decision-making.

He said counties continue to face significant financial constraints in meeting development needs and supporting major national activities.

Superintendent Bryant also called on the government to accelerate implementation of the Local Government Law of 2018.

He told ELBC on Monday, September 28, 2026, that the law is critical as it gives local authorities the power to make decisions by taking development closer to them.

Meanwhile, the Montserrado County Superintendent is calling for an increase in the County Development Fund to at least one million dollars per county.

He believes that the current annual allocation of about one hundred eighty-six thousand dollars is insufficient to meet the development needs of local communities.

Bryant said:” As Liberia’s national revenue envelope expands, counties should receive a greater share of the national budget to support development at the grassroots level”.

The Montserrado County Superintendent said greater investment at the county level will help accelerate development and improve citizens’ living conditions.
