Pres. Boakai Describes $1 Billion Domestic Revenue Accrual…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Boakai has described the accumulation of $1 billion in domestic revenue as a whole-of-government approach and the resilience of the Liberian people.

President Boakai said:” Such an amount accrued in a single year, through honest and lawful taxes, also reflects a strong commitment of the people to actively get involved with the development of the country”.

The President’s statement was contained in a special address to the nation on Monday, September 14, 2026, following the pronouncement of $ 1 billion through domestic revenue generation.

He attributed the achievement to the hard work, commitment, and dedication of LRA Commissioner Dorbor Jallah and his team, as well as the Ministry of Finance.

Meanwhile, the government has expressed confidence in achieving its projected annual budget of one-point-three-billion dollars by December 2026.

At the same time, President Boakai said the increment in domestic revenue collection has contributed to noticeable gains by his administration.

The President named the deployment of more than three thousand volunteer teachers and health workers to support learning outcomes and strengthen the country’s health system through manpower.

He said:” This achievement by the LRA and its team has also helped in strengthening the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency’s efforts in the fight against drug trafficking and all drug-related crimes in Liberia”.

President Boakai said such increment has also supported the recruitment and training of more than six hundred new Armed Forces personnel, while creating skills and livelihood opportunities for young Liberians.

Among these achievements, the President also highlighted the support provided for the construction and rehabilitation of several feeder and major road corridors across the country to enhance road connectivity.

President Joseph Boakai said that with these initiatives, the government intends to alleviate poverty and provide citizens with improved livelihoods and impactful services.

At the same time, President Boakai disclosed the government’s plans to establish a Special Purpose Vehicle Program in Liberia.

He said the SPV program, if established, will support Liberian-owned businesses through affordable financing methods.

The Liberian Leader also stated that the Special Purpose Vehicle program aligns with the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development to support other critical sectors of the economy, and encouraged equal economic participation.

He termed the plan as major in protecting Liberians from economic hardship, while strengthening the foundation for a more resilient, efficient, and dependable economy.
