MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has urged newly commissioned officials of the Government of Liberia to serve the Liberian people beyond political and individual affiliations.
President Boakai reminded them that their responsibilities to the nation and people must reflect the views and aspirations of all.
He also re-echoed the importance of public service through accountability, transparency, and integrity.
The President cautioned public officials to set measurable goals, collaborate, and serve with utmost professionalism. Humility, dedication, and integrity.
The Liberian Leader, at the same time, acknowledged the challenges officials will encounter, including limited resources and criticism, but urged them to find amicable solutions to mitigate the challenges.
Those commissioned include the Minister of Local Government, Francis Nyumalin, the National Elections Commission (NEC), Jonathan Weedor, the Managing Director of the Liberia Electricity Corporation, Mohammed Sheriff, and the Executive Director of the National Investment Commission, Caroline Bowah. President Boakai also commissioned the Superintendents of Maryland, Grand Bassa, Sinoe, Lofa, Bong, Rivercess, Gbarpolu, and Margibi Counties.
The rest of the commissioned officials were drawn from the Ministries of State for Presidential Affairs, Finance and Development Planning, and Health; the Liberia Tourism Authority; and the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of NEC, Jonathan Weedor, said,” Despite the challenges, there has been significant improvement, particularly in the areas of voter registration and civic education”.
He also spoke of the NEC’s efforts to tackle technological gaps, inefficiencies, and the threat of misinformation across Liberia.
Chairman Weedor pledged the institution’s commitment to ensure that NEC becomes an independent and reliable entity that represents the interests of all citizens.
The commissioning ceremony took place in the Parlor of the Executive Mansion on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in Monrovia.
