Nat’l Transit Authority Commissions 20 Mini-buses, 5 Cargo Trucks

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Transport Ministry has welcomed the commissioning of twenty mini-buses and five cargo trucks by the NTA, describing the new fleet as a boost for commuters and NTA employees.

‎‎Transport Minister, Sirleaf Tyler, explained that the vehicles are expected to help improve services within the National Transit Authority.

‎‎According to him, proper maintenance will be necessary to keep the buses operational.

‎‎The transport minister is also calling on the public to treat the vehicles as national assets and help protect them.

‎‎Meanwhile, the National Transit Authority says it has signed a contract to introduce an electronic payment system across Liberia to reduce cash leakages within the transport sector.

NTA Managing Director Edmund Forh explained that the system will also help address financial inefficiencies and improve revenue collection at the authority.

‎‎MD Forh disclosed that plans are underway to commence cross-border trade activities.

‎‎According to him, the authority is seeking support from the Liberia Marketing Authority, the Ministry of Agriculture and the World Food Programme to advance the planned operations.

He made the remarks during the official commissioning of twenty mini-buses and five cargo trucks in Monrovia.

‎MD Forh attributed the progress at the authority to President Joseph Boakai’s efforts to revamp the Country’s transport sector.

‎‎At the same time, the Minister of State, Samuel Stevquoah, has urged the management of the National Transit Authority to use the newly commissioned mini-buses and cargo trucks to improve service delivery in the transport sector.

‎Speaking on behalf of President Joseph Boakai, Minister Stevequoah said the administration is focused on revamping the authority through effective government policies.

‎‎He encouraged NTA management and employees to work collectively to strengthen operations at the institution.

‎‎Minister Stevequoah called on the public and NTA staff to prioritize the maintenance of the new vehicles.

‎‎He attributed the authority’s achievements over the years to the collective efforts of its employees.

The Minister of State said proper management of the new fleet will help the government advance its goals for the transport sector.
