MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Vice President Jeremiah Koung has urged the Finance Ministry to prioritize adequate support for the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency.
VP described such support as critical as the Government intensifies its campaign against illicit drugs in the Country.
He stressed the importance of ensuring that the LDEA has the resources and institutional capacity necessary to effectively combat drug trafficking and abuse.
The Vice President also recalled President Boakai’s declaration of a national war on drugs.
A Finance Ministry dispatch quotes VP Koung as urging the Ministry to ensure the agency is adequately supported through the national budget.
At the same time, Vice President Jeremiah Koung has called for greater attention to ordinary Liberians and sectors that are often overlooked in national policy discussions.
The Vice President pointed to market women, small-scale borrowers and commercial motorcyclists as some of those citizens who need greater attention.
He noted that commercial motorcyclists play an important role in transporting people and providing access to communities in parts of the country where road infrastructure remains limited.
Speaking Monday when he visited the Finance Ministry in Monrovia, VP Koung urged the Ministry to consider targeted interventions that could support these groups and contribute to inclusive economic growth.
The VP also commended the Finance Ministry for what he described as the demanding and critical role it plays in the functioning of the Government.
