MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the World Food Programme.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Education on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the partnership will strengthen and sustain the National School Feeding Programme from 2026 to 2028.
Education Minister, Dr. Jarso Jallah, highlighted that proper meals directly improve enrollment, retention, and student performance.
Minister Jallah said:” Under this agreement, the government assumes full ownership for future program planning, funding, and nationwide operational execution”.
She added that the Ministry also plans to expand the School Connect digital platform to over three hundred schools for better monitoring.
Meanwhile, the Director of the World Food Programme, Dr. Agbessi Amewoa, confirmed that this marks the official kickoff for the school year.
