MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia has officially reopened its Embassy in New Delhi, India, marking a milestone in Liberia–India relations.

Liberia’s Embassy in India was closed more than 35 years ago amid geopolitical and other challenges confronting the country at the time.

Since then, successive administrations have sought to re-establish a resident diplomatic mission in India, recognizing the growing importance of the relationship between the two countries.

Speaking ahead of the inauguration recently, Liberia’s Foreign Minister, Sara Beysolow-Nyanti, described the reopening as both a diplomatic achievement and an important step toward delivering practical benefits for Liberians.

The Liberian Foreign Minister said:” The move is a testament to President Boakai’s commitment to strengthening Liberia’s global partnerships”.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Government has expressed gratitude to the Government of India for its cooperation and support in facilitating the establishment of the Embassy.
