MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former Mayland County Superintendent George Prowd has resigned from the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).
In a letter dated August 5, 2026, Prowd informed the Party’s Acting National Chairman, Janga Kowo, that he was resigning as an Executive Member and withdrawing his membership from the Party.
According to Prowd, his decision to resign from the CDC is political.
He thanked the Party’s Political Leader, George Weah, and members while expressing hope for possible cooperation with the Party in the future.
Prowd’s resignation comes just a day after Dede Mechlin resigned as CDC chairman in Grand Gedeh County.
Both Prowd and Mechlin have also recently praised the Unity Party government for its development efforts, including the deployment of earth-moving equipment to Maryland County.
