MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has a new ambassador to Liberia.
He is Mohamed Konneh of Sierra Leone.
Ambassador Konneh’s appointment by the regional body followed the climax of the leadership of ECOWAS Representative to Liberia, Josephine Nkrumah.
Presenting his Letter of Credence to President Joseph Boakai on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Monrovia, Konneh acknowledged Liberia’s progress towards governance, security and regional integration.
Ambassador Konneh also expressed his appreciation to Liberia for playing a leading role in the formation and sustenance of ECOWAS principles over five decades.
The new ECOWAS then promised to promote initiatives that highlight the values and interests of the regional body in upholding peace and democracy.
