Labor Minister Kruah Threatens to Spare No “Big Hand” in Human Trafficking

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Minister of Labour, Cooper Kruah, has threatened to spare no ‘big hands’ in the spate of human trafficking in Liberia.

Minister Kruah described the people involved in the gruesome acts of Trafficking in Persons as ‘low standard’.

He committed his administration to working with local and international partners in stamping out the menace.

The Labour Minister made the remarks in Kakata, Margibi County, during the commemoration of the 19th World Day against Trafficking in Persons.

Minister Kruah, according to a release, disclosed that Liberia stands in solidarity with victims and survivors across the world.

He announced that Liberia’s law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and judiciary have continued to demonstrate that trafficking in persons is a serious crime, and those involved must be brought to book.

Meanwhile, Minister Kruah has outlined several achievements by the government in recent times in the fight against Trafficking in Persons.

The Labour Minister said,” These achievements range from the sentencing of seven traffickers to fifty years each and an additional ten convicts sentenced”.

He then acknowledged the thirty-five thousand US dollars grant from ECOWAS to strengthen victim protection and assistance in Liberia.

The Labour Minister said,” The Liberian government will implement the Third National Action Plan, which calls for strengthening regional collaboration in the fight against Trafficking in Persons”.
