MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai is urging Liberians to put the country’s interests over their personal interests.
President Boakai said,” It is important for citizens to remain patriotic, because such a value is key to nation building”.
The President made the statement on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Investiture Ceremony as part of a series of activities marking Liberia’s 179th Independence Day.
President Joseph Boakai then praised several Liberians for their exemplary contributions to the nation’s advancement.
The honorees include Dr. Robert Sherman, Dr. Augustine Konneh, Bishop Dr. Leo Simpson, James Butty, and Madam Hester Williams, among others.
They were awarded the titles of Grand Band, Star of Africa, and Knight Commander, Humane Order of African Redemption, respectively.
The annual ceremony aims to celebrate the gains made by those honored in the areas of education, youth empowerment, health, social justice, and agriculture.
Other recipients include Madam Sue Jackson, Col. Stephen Bangalu, Retired, Kwasi Poku, and Alexander Louis Peal.
