MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian government, through the Ministry of Education, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with BRAC Liberia to implement the Accelerating Impact for Adolescent Girls and Young Women Program.
According to a press release, funded by the Mastercard Foundation, the initiative will provide adolescent girls with education, alternative learning opportunities, entrepreneurship training, employability skills, life skills, and strengthened teaching support.
The program’s first phase will benefit approximately four thousand six hundred adolescent girls attending three hundred secondary schools across Montserrado, Grand Bassa, Grand Gedeh, Bong, Nimba, Lofa, and Margibi Counties by 2030.
Speaking during the signing ceremony recently, Education Minister Dr. Jarso Jallah emphasized the importance of keeping girls in school and equipping them with practical skills for future opportunities.
The Minister welcomed the partnership, describing it as a significant investment supporting adolescent girls through inclusive education, empowerment, and meaningful pathways toward sustainable livelihoods.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education will provide policy leadership, implementation coordination, and institutional oversight while collaborating closely with BRAC Liberia and participating schools throughout the program.
