MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Twenty-one Liberians being repatriated from South Africa are expected to arrive in Liberia today, Wednesday, July 15, at the Roberts International Airport.
The group of Liberians, among other Africans who are distressed with the situation in South Africa, voluntarily opted to be repatriated due to fear for their lives as a result of the constant xenophobic attacks against foreigners.
The Executive Director of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC), Jerror Cole Bangalu, said” The Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are coordinating the repatriation”.
Cllr. Bangalu said the government had been concerned about the welfare of Liberians in South Africa since the xenophobic attack, and will continue to monitor the situation as several Liberians are still in that country.
