MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Chairperson of the National AIDS Commission says the institution’s 2026 Annual Fund-Raising Gala program serves as a platform to secure annual support for HIV and AIDS response up to 2030.
Dr, Cecelia Huetah emphasized the importance of domestic resource mobilization in ensuring the sustainability of HIV response.
She noted that funding uncertainty can affect various aspects, including coordination, prevention, awareness, data systems, community engagement, and stigma reduction efforts.
Dr. Nuetah described domestic funding as a means to strengthen national ownership and reduce vulnerability to changing external priorities.
The Commission Chairperson also called on the private sector and national leaders to make financial contributions and become annual corporate sponsors of the national HIV response program.
Dr, Nuetah, at the same time, acknowledged President Joseph Boakai as a champion of domestic support to HIV response in the country.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Partnership at the Commission, Tracy Pency-Kyne, called for stronger partnerships and increased domestic investment in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
The event was attended by top officials of the Liberian Government, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from various schools, parents, and board members of the Commission.
According to Commissioner Kyne, the event reflects a shared responsibility of ensuring that no one is left behind.
The fundraiser was held under the theme ‘ Mobilizing Domestic Support, Sustainable Liberia’s HIV response ‘, underscoring the need for involvement from all sectors.
The Annual Fundraising Gala program forms part of the National AIDS Commission’s broader strategy to engage partners and the public in advancing Liberia’s national HIV response.
