Monrovia, Liberia- The Liberian Government says the country will not be used as a haven, transit point, or operational base by criminal networks engaged in narcotics trafficking.
President Joseph Boakai said any individual, group, or network that seeks to exploit Liberia’s territory, corrupt its institutions, endanger the youth, or undermine national security will be identified, pursued, and brought to justice.
President Boakai made the statement on Tuesday when he addressed the nation on the recent seizure of cocaine at Roberts International Airport, valued at over 19 million United States dollars.
The Liberian Leader has directed that the National Joint Security investigate the authority of the National Security Council.
He assured the public of the Government’s determination to expose and destroy the networks that finance, coordinate, facilitate, and profit from this criminal activity.
The President noted that every individual directly connected to the shipment will be identified, arrested, investigated, where evidence warrants, and prosecuted consistent with the law.
Meanwhile, President Boakai has disclosed that Liberia is actively engaging with international law enforcement and security agencies to support the ongoing investigation.
The President expressed full confidence in the country’s security forces, urging the public not to doubt their dedication and capability.
He said a high-level delegation has been dispatched to meet with key international partners and strengthen operational collaboration to identify, disrupt, and dismantle all persons and networks tied to the criminal enterprise.
President Boakai reaffirmed his government’s commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring accountability for all those found responsible.
He called on Liberians to remain calm, responsible, and patient while investigators carry out their work.
