MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai says the launch of the National Security Strategy is a milestone achievement in Liberia’s journey towards building a resilient, peaceful, and secure nation.
President Boakai said,” The document also represents the shared aspirations of all citizens to safeguard Liberia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democratic progress”.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining a robust and stable security force, especially during an era of global conflicts, challenges, and instability.
Speaking in Monrovia on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, President Boakai noted that the National Security Strategy will provide the necessary framework to engage and mitigate arising national and regional security threats and challenges.
According to the Liberian Leader, the document will also prioritize the protection of citizens, strengthen institutions, and promote sustainable peace and development.
President Joseph Boakai, who is Chairman of the National Security Council, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the capacity, professionalism, and accountability of all security institutions.
Meanwhile, the Justice Minister, Oswald Tweh, has underlined the importance of the document to achieving national peace, stability, and sustainable development.
Minister Tweh said,” The framework document also aims to empower security services and ensure transparency and accountability”.
The Justice Minister disclosed that the strategy, through its formative stage, has continued to receive support from Liberia’s international partners.
The Attorney General also underscored the significance of execution and reaffirmed the Joint Security apparatus’s commitment to upholding human rights and the rule of law.
Minister Tweh, however, hailed the efforts of Liberia’s partners and the security team for a comprehensive but coordinated action plan.
