Sen. Cyrus Calls for Immediate Cancellation of Liberia Traffic Mngt. Agreement

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Lofa County Senator, Momo Cyrus, is calling for the immediate cancellation of the Liberia Traffic Management (LTM) Agreement.

As per the deal, the LTM is responsible for the production and issuance of driver’s licenses, vehicle registration documents, and other key transportation services across the country.

Senator Cyrus said,” The agreement poses serious national security concerns, particularly regarding foreign access to the personal and biometric data of Liberian citizens”.

Speaking on Monday, June 1, 2026, on ELBC’s Super Morning Show, the Lofa County Senator argued that the arrangement is not in the country’s best interest and should be reviewed without further delay.

He further maintained that the current LTM Agreement has deprived thousands of qualified Liberians of employment opportunities, while placing critical services in foreign hands.

The Lofa County Lawmaker alleged that the company lacks the capacity to effectively deliver on its mandate and accused it of producing substandard license plates and related documents.

Meanwhile, Senator Cyrus says there is no immediate urgency to begin the exploration of the Wologizi Mountain in Lofa County.

According to him, adequate preparation must first be made to ensure that citizens of Lofa County are equipped with the technical skills needed to benefit from any future mining activities.

The Lawmaker wants scholarship opportunities for promising young people from the county to pursue specialised studies and return home with the expertise required to manage and support operations in the area.

Senator Cyrus warned that without planning and capacity-building, residents of Lofa County could once be left on the sidelines, while others benefit from the county’s natural resources.

Senator Momo Cyrus noted that developing a skilled Liberian workforce for the Mining Sector could take between three and five years, emphasising the need for strategic investment in education and training before large-scale exploration begins.
