Presiding Justice in Chambers to Deny or Grant Tweah’s Lawyers’ Request to Stop Jurors’ Investigation…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Presiding Justice in Chambers at the Supreme Court of Liberia is expected to deny or grant lawyers representing former Finance and Development Planning Minister, Samuel Tweah’s request to stop the ongoing jurors’ investigation on the allegation of jury tampering.

Associate Justice, Yusuf Kaba, on last Wednesday, May 20, 2026, mandated Criminal Court ‘C’ Presiding Judge, Ousman Feika, to stop all proceedings into the matter, after Tweah’s lawyers claimed, through a petition, that the Judge lacks jurisdiction over the matter.

Tweah’s lawyers argued that the fact that Judge Feika had disbanded the jury, he had no legal right to probe into misconduct or jury tampering, despite the fact that his final ruling was still pending.

As a result of Tweah’s lawyers’ request, Justice Kaba cited the parties for a legal conference on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, to hear from State lawyers regarding Tweah’s lawyers’ claims.

Wednesday’s conference will determine as to whether Justice Kaba will decline or issue the alternative Writ of Prohibition, consistent with Chapter 16, Section 16.22 of the Judiciary Law of Liberia.
