Gov. of Liberia Issues Ebola Virus Disease Travel Advisory

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has issued an Ebola Virus Disease Travel Advisory, outlining mandatory requirements for travelers and transport operators.

Key provisions of the Advisory include screening for all travelers, filling out mandatory health forms, self-monitoring requirements, and infection prevention measures, among others.

Liberian Health Authorities say the move reinforces existing protocols under the International Health Regulations of 2005 and aims to prevent the importation of the Ebola Virus into the country.

The Health Ministry and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) have maintained that the Government of Liberia has activated enhanced public health measures at all points of entry.

The two institutions, in the Advisory, reassured the public that there are currently no confirmed cases of Ebola in Liberia.

They, however, noted that heightened surveillance and preparedness measures are being implemented to safeguard public health.
