MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A high-power delegation, representing the Liberian Health Sector and legislative leadership, has joined member states and global health stakeholders at the official opening of the 79th World Health Assembly in Switzerland.
The Liberian delegation, headed by Liberia’s Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Teyah Moore, includes senior county health officials, hospital administrators, and lawmakers with oversight responsibility for the nation’s healthcare system.
Among members of the delegation are Dr. Jewel Tarpeh-Kollie, Montserrado County Health Officer, Dr. Annet Davis, Bomi County Health Officer, Dr. Roosevelt Matthews, and the Medical Director of the F.J. Grant Hospital in Sinoe County.
The delegation also includes Montserrado County Superintendent, Whorway Bryant, and Representative Julie Wiah, Chairperson of the House Committee on Health.
The World Health Assembly, convened annually by the World Health Organization, serves as the highest decision-making body for global health policy and brings together health actors and development partners to deliberate on pressing international health challenges.
This year’s 79th Session is expected to focus on strengthening global health systems, pandemic preparedness, universal health coverage, maternal and child health, climate-related health threats, and sustainable financing for healthcare delivery.
