Monrovia, Liberia – Liberia is set to participate in the fourth India-Africa Forum Summit in New Delhi this month, an event that highlights strategic partnership for innovation, resilience, and Inclusive transformation.
Indian Ambassador to Liberia, Manoj Verma said the summit will also focus on political and strategic cooperation; peace, security, and governance; economic transformation and trade; education and human development.
The Indian Envoy also named digital public infrastructure, space technology, innovation and artificial intelligence, climate action and environmental sustainability, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges as areas where participants will widen discussions.
Ambassador Verma told a news conference on Thursday, May 14, 2026, that the summit will create space for the India-Africa Business Dialogue, aimed at strengthening commercial partnerships, investment linkages, and private-sector collaboration between India and African countries.
Heads of State and Government, conservation practitioners, scientists, and partner organizations from 95 countries in Asia, Africa, and the Americas are expected to participate in the summit.
It will bring together leaders from across the African continent under the theme IA SPIRIT, serving as the first such summit over a decade and a defining moment in India-Africa relations.
The Indian Envoy described Liberia’s participation in both summits as a reflection of the growing stature of the India-Liberia partnership, adding that the Embassy of India in Monrovia is actively facilitating Liberia’s engagement.
“The Third Summit was held in New Delhi in October 2015. Over a decade has passed since then, a decade of vast and positive transformation for both India and Africa.
India’s relationship with the continent has seen a wide-ranging enhancement in every area of cooperation, and the upcoming Summit will provide the right platform for taking this partnership confidently forward,” Ambassador Verma added.
He noted that this year’s event will begin with a Senior Officials Meeting on 28 May, followed by the India-Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on 29 May, culminating in the Leaders’ Summit on 31 May.
Ambassador Verma disclosed that India is currently making a consultative, demand-driven approach to ensure that the Summit’s outcomes respond to Africa’s priorities.
He noted that since IAFS-III, India has opened 17 new diplomatic missions across the African continent, including its Embassy in Monrovia, established in 2021, bringing India’s total diplomatic presence in Africa to 46 missions.
The Indian Ambassador to Liberia, at the same time, described such an effort as a concrete and visible demonstration of India’s long-term commitment to the African continent as a strategic partnership.
