Police Completes Requested Procedures on Two Catholic Priests’ Remains

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian National Police has informed the Catholic Church that all requested procedures, including autopsies on the two Catholic priests, have been completed.

The police have also released the remains of the priests and authorized the Church to proceed with burial arrangements.

On March 20 this year, Bishop Gabriel Jubwe informed the Church that the police had requested the archdiocese to suspend funeral arrangements and preserve the remains, pending the conclusion of investigations, including possible autopsies.

The Church has now announced a Candlelight Vigil on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at St. Anthony Parish, followed by the removal of the remains from the Samuel Stryker Funeral Home in Sinkor to the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Thursday, May 28.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, May 29, at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, followed by burial at the Queen of Peace Shrine in Virginia.

Rev. Father Alphonso Momo, 56, who served as Rector of St. Charles Lwanga Pre-Major Seminary on the Pipeline Road and was a prominent priest of the Archdiocese of Monrovia, died on March 11, following a brief illness.

Rev Father Roland Biah, 53, Parish Priest of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and Chaplain of the Archdiocesan Youth and Young Adult Association, died on March 13.

He also served as a member of the Archdiocesan Finance Council.
