Senate Sports Committee Chair Bill Twehway Endorses Senator Momo Cyrus for LFA EXCOM Seat….

As the days draw down to the 2026 LFA elective congress, football enthusiasts and stakeholders are throwing their weight behind individuals they believe in to make the game better once they are seated at the helm of power.

One man who continues to get the backings from the football community and prominent sports figures is Lofa County Senator Momo Tarnuekollie Cyrus.

Besides the football circle, Senator Cyrus has received latest backing from the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth and Sports, at the Liberian Senate, Senator Bill T. Twehway.

Senator Momo Cyrus..Candidate for LFA EXCOM

In a two paged communication to football delegates, Senator Twehway announced his  endorsement of the Wologisi FC CEO, Senator Momo Tarnuekollie Cyrus for a position on the Executive Committee of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) ahead of the organization upcoming Elective Congress.

In the Communication dated May 11, 2026, the Rivercess Senator described Senator Cyrus as a capable and disciplined leader with the experience and vision necessary to contribute meaningfully to the governance and development of Liberian football at the highest level.

Senator Twehway, who also chairs the Rivercess Legislative Caucus, said his confidence in Senator Cyrus is based on years of working closely with him through legislative oversight and national youth and sports engagements within the Liberian Senate.

he added that “Senator Cyrus has consistently demonstrated professionalism, sound administrative judgment, and a strong understanding of governance and policy processes that are vital for credible sports administration”.

The Senate Youth and Sports Committee Chairman further noted that Senator Cyrus, serving as Co-Chair of the Senate Committee on Youth and Sports, has played a constructive and resourceful role in supporting legislative efforts aimed at transforming Liberia’s youth and sports sector.

The Lofa Senator was praised by his colleague for his active contributions to committee engagements, stakeholder coordination, and policy discussions, describing his leadership style as mature, strategic, and focused on strengthening institutions that serve young people and national development.

Senator Twehway also emphasized Senator Cyrus ability to build consensus among diverse groups while maintaining focus on accountability and institutional progress. He said these qualities are critical at a time when Liberian football requires competent and forward-looking leadership capable of advancing reforms and strengthening governance credibility within the sport.

The endorsement stated that Senator Cyrus experience in public leadership, legislative engagement, and strategic coordination would greatly benefit the Liberia Football Association if elected to its Executive Committee.

Senator Twehway is meanwhile urging members of the LFA Congress and football stakeholders to give favourable consideration to Senator Cyrus candidacy, as doing they will be make impactful change.

Recently, football club owners and stakeholders across Lofa county issued an endorsement statement, pledging their support to Senator Momo Cyrus.

Senator Cyrus is among 23 candidates vying for 13 executive committee seats at the LFA elective congress on Friday.

He is been praised by many for the level of transformation he has brought to sports in Lofa county and Montserrado county in recent years.

The Lofa Senator has praised his colleague for the support and is calling on stakeholders to give him a chance to contribute to the growth of football nationally and internationally.
