Gov. of Liberia Ends Content Creators’ Training in Preparation for TikTok, Facebook Monetization

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government has concluded a two-day training for content creators, as part of preparations for TikTok and Facebook monetization in the Country.

‎The training is being conducted by the government through the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), in collaboration with the Ministries of Information and Youth and Sports.

‎LTA Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, Patrick Honnah, disclosed that the goal of the ongoing monetization effort is to empower Liberian content creators to improve their livelihoods.

‎According to Commissioner Honnah, Liberian content creators are making significant progress, and, as such, it is important to monetize the country for them to benefit from their work.

‎The LTA Commissioner, however, wants content creators to focus mostly on promoting the positive image of Liberia.

‎At the same time, LTA Commissioner Ben Fofana says the monetization training program is aimed at empowering young people across the country.

‎Commissioner Fofana noted that the training initiative is designed to equip young Liberians with practical skills that will allow them to create online content and generate income through digital platforms.

‎According to him, the program forms part of broader national efforts to encourage innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among the country’s growing youth population.

‎He explained that many young people are increasingly using social media and other online platforms, but often lack the technical knowledge needed to monetize their work effectively.

‎‎The LTA Commissioner said,” The training will provide participants with guidance on digital branding, audience engagement, and revenue-generation strategies that can help transform online talent into sustainable livelihoods”.

‎‎Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister Attorney Cornelia Kruah has reaffirmed the Liberian Government’s strong determination to improve the livelihoods of young people.

‎According to the Minister, the government is committed to leveraging more opportunities to empower the youthful population of Liberia in different sectors.

‎The Youth and Sports Minister described the two-day training as a step in the right direction in the Country’s digital journey.

‎Minister Kruah thanked the LTA, the Ministry of Information, and representatives from TikTok and Facebook for the training.

‎The Youth and Sports Minister also urged participants of the training to take advantage of the initiative, adding that the training will harness the skills of content creators.

‎‎Also speaking, Assistant Information Minister for New Media and Rebranding, Mai Louisa Hills, is calling on content creators across Liberia to practice responsibility and professionalism in the use of social media platforms.

‎According to Minister Hills, social media has become a powerful tool for communication, education, and national development, but warned that its misuse can create division, damage reputations, and mislead the public.

‎Minister Hills emphasized that while Liberia is exerting efforts to be monetized, content creators must now gain interest in joining institutions responsible for their sector.

‎‎She also disclosed that the government is working to ensure content creators in the country obtain both local and international training.

‎The Assistant Information Minister was speaking on Thursday at the close of a two-day monetization training in Congo.
