MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Residents of Morris Farm Community, Rural Montserrado County, are calling on the Government of Liberia to provide them with safe drinking water.
The residents told our correspondent that four of the five hand pumps, built years ago, have dried up, leaving only one to serve over five thousand inhabitants.
The General Town Chief, John Kennedy, said,” The situation has forced residents to rely on the Du River, located along the boundary between Montserrado and Margibi Counties, as our only alternative source of water”.
He added that women and children are now walking long distances daily in search of water, creating serious hardship for families in the community.
At the same time, a local businessman, Arthur Kponah, says the ongoing water crisis in Morris Farm Community is increasing the risk of waterborne diseases and worsening the living conditions of residents.
