BONG COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Education, through its Bureau of Early Childhood Education, has successfully concluded this year’s observance of Liberia’s Week of the Young Child in Gbarnga, Bong County.
The program brought together children, educators, and community leaders from across the region, marking a vibrant end to the nationwide celebration.
Hundreds of children representing 20 early childhood institutions participated in the activities, showcasing the significance of early learning and the critical role of families, schools, and communities in a child’s development.
Speaking in Bong County, Assistant Minister for Early Childhood Education, Fasam Howard Nyensuah, described the week as not only a celebration but also a time for reflection on the collective efforts required to sustain progress in the sector.
She emphasized the need for strong collaboration and consistent engagement at all levels of society.
Delivering the keynote address on Education, Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening foundational learning across the country.
Minister Jallah highlighted ongoing initiatives, including the EXCEL Project, early-grade digital learning programs, and the school feeding initiative, as key drivers in improving educational outcomes.
The Week of the Young Child celebration concluded with renewed calls to prioritize early childhood education as a critical foundation for long-term academic success in Liberia.
