MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Electricity Regulatory Authority (LERC) has granted a five-year electricity import license to the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC).
It followed months of public hearings and security scrutiny by the LERC Board, allowing the LEC to import additional electricity to serve more customers.
Speaking at a public hearing in Harrisburg over the weekend, the LERC Managing Director, Augustus Guannue, said,” The action is in line with the LERC’s administrative Procedure Regulations of September 2020”.
Director Guannue noted that the process reflects the LERC’S commitment to transparency and inclusive decision-making in Liberia’s Energy Sector.
Presenting the import license, the LERC’s Legal Licensing and Public Affairs Director, Cllr. Minnie Kallon urged the LEC to ensure that more people get connected across the country.
Cllr. Kallon said the LERC will continue to monitor the implementation process to ensure proper service delivery to consumers.
