MONROVIA, LIBERIA-State Prosecutors in the ongoing high-profile economic sabotage case have rested with the production of evidence, but maintain the right to rebuttal.
The notice from state lawyers was announced on Thursday, April 16, 2026, and granted by Criminal Court ‘C’ Judge, Ousmane Feika.
During the trial, the state produced one regular witness and six subpoena witnesses to prove their case against former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah and four others.
At the same time, Defense Lawyers have prayed for a continuance to allow them to adequately prepare their defense ahead of parading their first witness on Monday, April 20.
ELBC Judicial Reporter said Judge Feika then adjourned the matter, stating that Thursday’s minutes of court will serve as a valid notice of assignment to all parties ahead of the defense team’s evidence.
The five former government officials are facing prosecution for allegedly stealing over six million US dollars.
At the same time, suspect Samuel Jackson’s twenty-thousand-dollar property value bond is under scrutiny and risks re-arrest.
Prosecuting Lawyers have since questioned the legal credibility of the bond proffered to the court by his legal team.
Prosecuting Lawyers’ exception to the bond claimed that the property proffered is not tax-free and is pleading with the court to set his bond aside as provided by law.
As a result of the state’s exception to the bond, Criminal Court ‘A’ Judge, Roosevelt Willie, has assigned the matter for Friday, April 17, 2026, for legal arguments.
Suspect Samuel Jackson has been charged with multiple crimes in connection with the death of his wife, Toni Khumalo, who died at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center on March 13, 2026.
