Police Investigates Prominent Liberian Economist Jackson for Wife’s Death

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia National Police (LNP) has declared prominent Liberian Economist, Samuel Jackson, a suspect in the death of his South African wife, Toni Khumalo-Jackson.

The police have also declared the home of Jackson a restricted area as a crime scene investigation continues into his wife’s death.

Police Inspector General, Col. Gregory Coleman, told reporters that Jackson has shifted from being a person of interest.

IG Coleman noted that Jackson will remain in police custody for forty-eighty hours, while an autopsy is conducted on the body of his late wife.

The news of Jackson’s wife’s death surfaced in the public on early Friday morning, March 13, 2026, raising public concern.

Samuel Jackson, 73, spent the first night at the Police Headquarters in Monrovia, as part of a thorough investigation being conducted by the police.

IG Coleman disclosed that another individual is also in the custody of the police, undergoing questioning regarding the death of Jackson’s wife.

The Police Inspector General assured the public that the rights of the suspects will be protected under the law until they are proven guilty of any wrongdoing in the matter.
