Liberian Nat’l Bar Asso. President Resigns

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The President of the Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) has resigned.

His resignation followed months og hauling and pulling among lawyers regarding his exit following his appointment by President Joseph Boakai as Chairman of the Law Reform Commission.

Cllr. Borna Varmah earlier made a solemn declaration before the membership of the LNBA that upon his commissioning by President Boakai as Chairperson and CEO of the Law Reform Commission, he will respectfully resign as President.

In keeping with his word and in the interest of institutional integrity, his resignation takes immediate effect.

The decision, he said, is not one of separation from the Bar, but rather a reaffirmation of enduring commitment to the rule of law and the advancement of the Justice System.

Cllr. Varmah said,” I remain a proud member of the Bar and will continue to collaborate constructively in strengthening legal reforms, professional standards, and access to justice”.

Meanwhile, his resignation will now give way to the incumbent Vice President, Cllr. Juah Lawson to replace him as President in line with the Bar’s constitution.

Cllr. Lawson is expected to conduct an election for the Vice President Position during a special gathering.
