Phase Two of Tree Crop Extension Project Begins

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Phase Two of the Tree Crop Extension Project has been launched to scale up production.

The project was launched on Monday, February 16, 2026, in Monrovia by agriculture stakeholders, including the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Speaking at the ceremony, IFAD’s Representative to Liberia, Pascaline Barankeba, called for stronger systems, better coordination, and timely reporting during implementation of the project.

Madam Barankeba said,” Implementing partners of the project must adhere to disciplined procurement and financial management”.

The IFAD Representative then called for more resilient value chains, greater Private Sector engagement, and inclusion of women and youth during the project implementation.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Alexander Nuetah, has commended IFAD for its continued support to food production in Liberia.

According to Minister Nuetah, IFAD provided Liberia with more than fifty-two million US Dollars to support agricultural activities in the country.

He noted that a portion of the money received from IFAD will go towards Phase Two of the Tree Crop Extension project.

The agriculture minister vowed to provide proper oversight over the project, as part of efforts to foster transparency and accountability.
