NIMBA COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), over the weekend, launched stakeholder consultations for Ivanhoe Liberia Limited’s Kon Kweni Transport Infrastructure Project in Nimba County.

The meeting, aimed at reviewing its environmental and social impact, brought together local authorities, community leaders, government institutions, and Members of the Nimba Legislative Caucus, among others.

According to an EPA release, the agency’s certified consultant, Earth Time Inc., submitted the project’s environmental and social impact assessment and management plan, marking a step in the review process.

The proposed project will establish a transport corridor from the Kon Kweni mine in Guinea through Yekepa to the Port of Buchanan for bulk mineral transport using existing rail and port infrastructure.

The EPA reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, environmental protection, and inclusive public participation, urging affected communities to engage in the consultation process.
