LOWER MARGIB COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) has acknowledged an operational incident that occurred at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) on Saturday evening, involving Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET 943.
The LAA said the incident happened when the aircraft was turning to exit the runway onto the designated taxiway, at which time it experienced a mechanical malfunction.
In a release, the LAA noted that the airport recovery teams were immediately deployed and the aircraft was safely towed from the runway to the tarmac, in accordance with established safety procedures.
According to the LAA, it has since requested the Liberia Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau to conduct full scale investigation into the incident to determine the root cause and recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
