Nat’l Food Assistance Agency Ends Fruitful Food Delivery to Sectors of Liberia’s Vulnerable People…

MARYLAND COUNTY, LIBERIA-The National Food Assistance Agency (NFAA) has concluded its African Union Support Food Distribution to vulnerable segments of the population in eight of Liberia’s fifteen counties.

The African Union recently provided fifty thousand US dollars in support to the Agency, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for food aid, ensuring food security, especially to the vulnerable population.

The benefiting counties include: Grand Bassa, Nimba, Margibi, Bong, Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, Grand Gedeh, and Maryland counties.

The NFAA Deputy Director General for Operations, Elton Dickson, described the impact of the donation to the beneficiaries as impressive and in the right direction.

Deputy Director Dickson reiterated the agency’s mandate to ensure the provision of food to the less privileged.

He said the government is committed to buttressing the efforts of the groups in meeting their food needs.

Deputy Director Dickson, however, underscored the need for more logistical and financial support to the entity for the easy movement of items across the country.

The NFAA Deputy boss lauded the Partners and highlighted the agency’s plans to sustain the food donation scheme to the vulnerable population across the county, in the coming months.

Meanwhile, the Agency concluded its distribution in Grand Gedeh and Maryland Counties, benefitting several vulnerable institutions.

Items donated include 25Kg bags of Rice and five-liter gallons of vegetable oil.

The targeted institutions are the Pleebo Old Folks’ Home, the Disabled Community, the Pleebo Health Centre, and the Harper Central Prison.

Representing the local authorities, Pleebo and Harper City Mayors Larry Geekor and Abraham Jackson appreciated the NFAA for the gesture, describing it as the first of its kind to the prison.

However, Harper City Mayor, Abraham Jackson, then used the occasion to appeal for a tricycle for the prison to enable it to transport wood.

At the same time, the beneficiaries expressed excitement over the gesture from the NFAA and appealed for continuous donations of such to the less privileged.
