Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission Tightens Border Surveillance

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC) is tightening border surveillance in Lofa County ahead of Guinea’s Presidential Election on December 28, 2025.

According to LRRRC, the decision was taken to avoid the influx of refugees in Liberia.

The LRRRC Deputy Director for Operations, Varlee Sarnor, said,” The Commission has observed an increasing number of Ivoirian refugees in Nimba, Grand Gedeh, Rivergee, and Maryland Counties.

Sarnor told the ELBC “Super Morning Show” on Thursday, December 25, 2025, that the LRRRC remains steadfast in protecting territories of the country against illegal entry of refugees.

He said,” Liberia is being invaded by refugees from the Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso, and as such, the entity will take every legal step to protect Liberia against such action.

Meanwhile, Varlee Sarnor is craving for budgetary and mobility support from the Liberian Government to enhance the operations of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission.
