Deputy Finance Minister Sharply Reacts to Dr. Moniba’s Salary Increment Suggestion

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Deputy Minister of Fiscal Affairs at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Anthony Myers, has sharply responded to the statement made by former Presidential Candidate, Clarence Moniba, over the increment of Civil servant salaries to five hundred United States Dollars, minimum.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with ELBC Reporter, Magdalene Saah, on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Deputy Minister Myers stated that some Civil servants are currently being paid five hundred United States Dollars and above.

He criticized Dr. Moniba for also complaining about the budget being all about salaries and not focusing on more development across the country.

He said,” Dr. Moniba’s statement is more contradictory, which aligns with the CDC statement of the Draft National Budget being unrealistic.”

According to Dr. Moniba’s statement, Liberia can build a fair and dignified salary structure, where civil servants earn at least $ 500 USD, and no one earns more than $6,000 USD, from the highest Minister or lawmaker to the lowest-paid person.

Meanwhile, Minister Myers said,” Dr. Clarence Moniba has served in different capacities in government, and as such, I expect him to know how the government is run”.

He further stated that the government, headed by President Joseph Boakai, is making all efforts to provide a more dignified salary structure for civil servants across the country.
