MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A high-level delegation from the ECOWAS Court of Justice, led by its President Ricardo Goncalves, is in Liberia for a multi-day sensitization mission to enhance public understanding of the Court’s roles and functions.
The visit, which underscores the Court’s outreach to member states, includes meetings with top government officials to strengthen national ties.
On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Justice Goncalves and the delegation held high-level talks with Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Monrovia.
During the meeting, Justice Goncalves commended Liberia for its steadfast support of the ECOWAS Court.
Justice Goncalves noted that Liberia has demonstrated a profound commitment to the principles and mechanisms of, not just the Court, but ECOWAS as a regional body.
He disclosed that Liberia stands as the only member state to have ratified all the protocols of the ECOWAS Court of Justice.
In response, Foreign Minister Beysolow-Nyanti reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to the ECOWAS Court of Justice.
Minister Beysolow-Nyanti said,” The Government of Liberia will continue to support the workings of the regional court as its dedication to the ECOWAS Community”.
She noted that, as a proud member of ECOWAS, Liberia will continue to support the activities of the various organs of the regional body.
She further expressed the government’s continued commitment to advancing the rule of law and promoting regional peace and stability.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Nyei, Senior Desk Officer for ECOWAS Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Amos Tubor, Deputy Director of ECOWAS National Office.
