Pres. Boakai Says Desire to Contest 2017,2023 Presidency Was to Transform Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai says his desire to contest for the Presidency in 2017 and 2023 was to have the opportunity to serve and transform Liberia.

President Boakai said,” I was seeking to provide a leadership that cares for the country and its people, through institutional reforms and infrastructural development”.

The Liberian Leader maintained that the steady progress the government is making is because the packed race car was finally put on the race track in 2023.

Speaking at the New Covenant Outreach Ministries in Sinkor over the weekend, President Boakai also stressed the need to give the country to those who fear God.

The Liberian Chief Executive said those who provide leadership for the country must always be guided by God and His word.

At the same time, President Boakai lauded the Management of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) for its tireless efforts in stabilizing and expanding the electricity supply.

He particularly praised LEC Managing Director, Mohammed Sheriff, whom he first met in the Ivory Coast as General Manager of the regional energy group, Transco CLSG.

The Liberian Leader said Sheriff showed patriotism by stepping down as Head of CLSG to help improve electricity in Liberia.

President Boakai noted that the cost of doing business in rural communities is reducing due to the rapid expansion of electricity by the LEC.

President Joseph Boakai charged the LEC Management to do more through robust expansion in communities that face criminal activities.
