Liberian Senate Mandates Joint Committee on Defense, Judiciary…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate has mandated its Joint Committee on Defense and Judiciary to investigate the influx of Burkinabe in River Gee and Grand Gedeh Counties.

It followed a communication from River Gee County Senator Jonathan Sogbie on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

In his communication, Senator Sogbie said,” The influx of Burkinabe in the counties is concerning and needs to be addressed”.

The River Gee County Senator pleaded with the plenary to invite the relevant agencies and ministries of the Liberian Government to define the status of the Burkinabe to avoid future embarrassment.

Meanwhile, the Senate Joint Committee is expected to report to plenary within two weeks.
