Gov. of Liberia, Partners Launch Liberia Land and Soil Resources Knowledge Project

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia, in partnership with the European Union (EU) and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), has launched the Liberia Land and Soil Resources Knowledge Project.

The Soils4Liberia is a 4.6 million US dollar initiative aimed at strengthening Liberia’s capacity for sustainable land and soil management.

The four-year project is being funded by the EU delegation to Liberia and implemented by the IITA.

According to a release, the project will support the development of the Liberia Land and Soil Information System and a comprehensive, data-driven platform for up-to-date information on Liberia’s soil and land resources.

The release is quoted as saying the project seeks to improve land use planning, agricultural productivity, and climate resilience across the country.

Meanwhile, EU Ambassador to Liberia, Nona Deprez, has reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and agricultural transformation in Liberia.
