Pres. Boakai Suspends Deputy Youth and Sports Minister for Youth Dev. For Alleged Rape

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has, with immediate effect, suspended Deputy Youth and Sports Minister for Youth Development, Bryant McGill.

Minister McGill’s suspension comes days after he was accused of raping a fourteen-year-old girl.

An Executive Mansion release says President Boakai’s decision is in line with the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

The release quotes the Liberian Leader as pledging his administration’s commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Chief Executive has disclosed that Minister McGill will remain suspended until the investigation is concluded.
